engagement photography, Sydney

Before the wedding.

An engagement session is mostly an excuse: to be photographed before the wedding makes it compulsory, and to find out how the three of us work together. I keep it simple. About an hour, somewhere with decent light, no performance required.

What you should get out of it

Photographs of the two of you that look like the two of you. We walk, we talk, I photograph what happens in between. If you are after fifty posed variations for the announcement grid, I am probably not your person.

If we work well together, I’d love to be your photographer when the wedding comes.

A few things people ask

How long is an engagement session?

Usually about an hour. Long enough to settle into it, short enough that it does not start to feel like a job. If we are somewhere good and the light is holding, I will stay a little longer.

When should we book?

As soon as you know roughly when you would like to go. Popular months in Sydney, autumn and late winter, book a few weeks out. Summer fills quickly too.

Do you have a list of locations?

I have opinions, not a list. If you have somewhere in mind, bring it. If not, tell me what you are after: city, water, trees, somewhere quiet, and I will suggest a few options worth considering.

Can this be part of a wedding booking?

Often, yes. Some of my wedding bookings include an engagement session. Write to me and we will figure out what makes sense for you.
