Flora — documentary people photographer in Sydney

A bride and groom standing close, his boutonniere between them
A flock of white birds scattered across a blue sky
I make portraits
A figure and trees in a soft double exposure
A bride holding her bouquet, veil falling to the grass
the way other people
A hand with a gold wedding ring resting on white roses
A bride cutting the cake at the table
write love letters.
Sydney, Australia
A note

This is a record of people in the middle of their own lives. Not posed for. Witnessed. I show up, I keep quiet, and I wait for the room to forget I'm there.

You are not paying for poses. You are paying for someone who sees what is actually happening, and knows exactly when to press the shutter.

Who?

I’m Flora.

I spent years writing software before I picked up a camera in earnest. What pulled me away was the same thing that pulls me toward people now: the moments that resist being optimised. The look that only exists for half a second. The laugh that ruins the "perfect" shot and makes the real one.

Based in Sydney. Photographing the people who let me in.

Our photos look like us, not some version of us we’d cringe at in ten years. We love them.
